Recipe: Masala Oats
Recipe: Masala oats
Recently, I have come across many people who are starting their weight loss journey but are tired of eating bland, inedible food.
Chances are that during your weight loss journey, you have been asked to stay away from sugars which means, your morning oats shouldn’t have any sweeteners – natural or artificial.
If you want to eat oats in the morning as a healthy breakfast, but you are so tired of the mushy texture without any flavour, you have to try this delicious recipe.
Oats are so beneficial for a healthy weight loss journey because:
- They contain tons of fiber
- They help balance your cholesterol
- They make you feel full and energetic
- And this recipe packs some veggies in it as well for micronutrients
Things you will need:
3 servings:
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
5-6 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 medium onion chopped
1 medium tomato chopped
Handful of chopped spinach
2 cups oats
1 cup water
Salt to taste
½ teaspoon Turmeric
2 teaspoon Chilli powder
Lime
Cilantro to garnish
(optional) sev to garnish
Directions:
- Wash the oats 1-2 times in cold water and rinse
- Add 1 cup of water and leave aside to soak
- In a pan add oil, cumin seeds and curry leaves
- When it starts splattering, add onions and saute
- Once the onion is golden brown, add tomatoes and spinach
- Cook for 1 min
- Add in oats, salt and all the spices
